This is an apprenticeship position in the Maintenance department for individuals to train and qualify as Mechanical Fitters. The role involves learning and performing mechanical fitting and maintenance tasks, likely on heavy machinery or equipment, as part of a structured apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Learning and assisting with the maintenance, repair, and assembly of mechanical equipment under supervision
• Developing skills in mechanical fitting, machining, and the use of tools
• Adhering to all safety and health regulations in a workshop/engineering environment
• Completing the required theoretical and practical modules of the apprenticeship program

Qualifications

• Mandatory Requirements:
• Grade 12 with: Mathematics (Core), Physical Science, and Engineering Graphics & Design (EGD)
• Must pass a Technical Assessment (Numeracy & Literacy)
• Must be in good physical health and prepared to undergo a medical examination
• A valid Code EB (08) driver’s licence
• Must reside within a 50km radius of the Bell Customer Service Centre in Richards Bay
• Added Advantages (not mandatory):
• Grade 12: Mechanical Technology (Fitting & Machining / Automotive)
• N2: Fitting & Machining Theory
• National Vocational Certificate (NCV) L4 ERD with seven subjects in Fitting & Machining
• Working experience in the engineering industry
• Competently completed basic hand skills training
